6. What is a scanned image/raster image?
The Raster image/scanned image or TIF file is the raw product from the scanner after passing the your paper (Drawing, Photo or Text) into a scanner and is a bit like a photo i.e. you can see it, but it is one image or entity and it is made up from thousands of little dots.
7. In what DPI should the paper original be scanned?
The paper if scanned at 300 DPI, is able to display almost the entire information clearly visible on the sheet.
8. Why Convert Paper Drawings to CAD drawing (soft copy)?CAD conversion offers significant advantages over other methods such as significant cost saving, increased drawing value, and improved overall drawing management efficiency.
• Modification, editing, copying, multiple copying, mirror, trimming, stretching, extending, scaling and erasing the drawing are very easy in soft copy (CAD copy).
• Increased drawing value.
• Storage and Accessing the file are very easy.
• Transferring the files are very easy through CD, Floppy, DVD, and emailing from your concern to other company any where in the world
• Complication and congested area in drawing can be possible to view by zooming the area in your computer monitor.
• We can set the color for assembly parts, so that we can distinguish the items, using the layer and line type we can easily differentiate the main parts and hidden parts. While plotting components or object are comes in thick line while dimensions are in thin line by lineweight properties. Neatness will be maintained in CAD copy.
• Once Assembly drawings are completed, we can use the parts for detailing easily. Where as in hard copy it is not possible. We have to draw the parts again it takes too much time to complete the drawing.
• For design development we can use the existing drawings for modification. We can save time.
• Quality management systems (QS, TS, ISO 9000) imply that soft copy of drawings is preferable than hard copy of drawing for easily accessible. Hence external auditor demands you to make the soft copy in systems.
• The same soft copy of drawing entity or views can be used some other documents also like standard operating procedure, work instructions, as it copy and paste to many places wherever its required.
• We can convert soft cad copy of drawings into JPG, TIFF, BMP, and PDF instantly. Scanner is not required. We can maintain confidentiality if we send the converted tiff or pdf image to customers or vendors. So other person cannot misuse the confidential drawings.
• 2D & 3D drawings can be used for analyzing, cost estimation, weight and other calculation, material management systems, material control, project management, inventory tracking and numerically controlled machining and manufacturing. 2D views in Cad can directly use for 3D modeling conversion process.
• Revisions done in CAD may be 2-8 times faster than the same revision done by manual methods.
• Since conversion is a one-time cost, the second and third revisions to a drawing produce even greater saving.
• Reducing the overall cost of maintaining a drawing throughout its useful life.
• Reduce the Cost of Revisions & Drawing Life Cycle Cost.
• Cost of revision further reduced by shortening the time of CAD revisions.
• Converting drawings to fully vectorized files increases the ease of editing.
• The user no longer needs to switch back and forth between raster and vector files.
• Establishing CAD as the standard filing procedure will decrease the amount of engineering time spent looking for drawings, and also the number of lost drawings. Filing more drawings electronically may also reduce square footage being used to store paper drawings.
• Converting drawings to CAD allows a firm to project a consistent, progressive, and high quality image to their clients by eliminating the use of outdated manual drafting methods.
• Maintain a Consistent Level of standard Quality throughout for all Your Projects.
• Create a Standard Filing System.
